Quick Doctor Updates

Ok, so I didn't get the chance update this before, and I have tons to say about my first baby shower, but I will make a new post for that when I get all the pictures organized together.

I wanted to make sure that I got everything up to date on the progress of the pregnancy. I'm full into my third trimester now, and I still feel blessed with how well I feel. At the doctor appointment I had over 10 weeks ago, they said I gained 7 lbs in the previous 4 weeks- and the nurse told me that I was doing a "good job" because that put me right at half-way in weight gain at half-way through the pregnancy. 5 weeks later I had gained 9 lbs, which is practically the same rate at which I gained for the previous appointment, but the nurse said, "Uh-oh! Not good!" That put me on a track where I only had about 5 lbs left to gain in my last 10 weeks of the pregnancy... you know, the point where you gain the most weight. So, needless to say I was a little concerned, but not enough to think that there might be a problem with the baby...except it was time to take the Glucose Test to measure if I have gestational diabetes.

Well, here I am, 2 weeks later, and I haven't heard that anything was wrong. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and I've only gained 1 lb in 2 weeks...so that puts me on track with not gaining too much before the end. I don't really know what I did differently for my diet to gain fewer pounds...maybe it was just being more conscious of how much grain I was eating and concentrated a little more on fruits and veggies. (I've always had a hard time getting enough fruits and veggies...go figure!)

So far, I still feel really good as far as health is concerned, but just over the past couple weeks I've been experiencing pains that I never felt before. True, these pains seem to be nothing to worry about and they are just part of the pregnancy territory- whether it be from pressure on the sciatic nerve, stretching ligaments, or swelling in the wrist that makes my right hand go all tingly. I don't want to complain about it...just to remember for future pregnancies (or friends' pregnancies) that there are times where pregnancy just may not be totally fun. I think I'm starting to understand the reason behind the "pregnant woman waddle" now. Before, I just thought it was something to do with balancing that big belly, but now I think that many people do it because those pains tend to hurt a little less with a waddle than with an up-right gait. *sigh* Waddle-aerobics, here I come!

I'm now 32 1/2 weeks along, and just now realizing that I really only have 6 weeks left of work before going on maternity leave...that is, as long as this little guy doesn't come earlier than 8 days before my due date! WOW!! It's creeping up so fast. I feel like I haven't been pregnant for very long...but Mark says that he feels like it's been forever and the baby should be coming any day now. Hmm, I wonder if that makes Mark more ready for the baby than I am.... Probably not! It's probably because I know how many more things need to be done, or are going to be happening and what an adjustment it will be, and Mark just doesn't see it exactly the way I do. Either way, the time is getting closer, and I feel like I'm almost there, but not quite calmly settled and ready for his arrival.
