Riddle me this,
Riddle me that!
Why do I still get heartburn,
even if I don't eat fat?
And what's with the puff? Not the "powder puff" or the marshmallow puff, or even the loofah puff I use in the shower!! I'm talking about the puff that's starting to appear in my feet!! I used to have cute ankles and feet, but now I feel like there's just no shape to them at all! I went shoe shopping last Friday to get some shoes that I would actually be able to fit into by the end of an "elephant-feet pregnancy", but I was only discouraged. There were a few sandals that I thought would be comfortable, but they either had too skinny of a heel (meaning I'd totally sprain an ankle- which would make for even more puffiness), or they would somehow accentuate the look of the puff in my feet. After looking at 2 Payless stores, Mark and I were able to decide on one pair, and I'm so far satisfied. If my feet stay this big and I can't fit into any of my previous shoes after the delivery, I'm going to need a whole new shoe wardrobe...and I'm not looking forward to financing that! Honestly, they're not that bad right now, but I still have 13 weeks left to go...so I'm concerned that this is a sign of something scary to come in the near future. This past week was the first time I ever felt the sensation of my feet jiggling as I walked. It was so weird...and depressing!!
The joys of pregnancy!!

O you poor thing!! You are right... it just gets worse from here. And many women DO go up a 1/2 size perminately after having kids... I did too. But your ankles will get their shape back eventually I promise. Your feet just may a bit bigger. All I can say is keep them up up as much as you can. Even when you are sleeping, have them up on a pillow so they are slightly above heart-level. And EVERYTIME you sit have your feet up - even if just a little bit. And no super long walks either!! Best of luck!
O - and an old wives tale says that the more heartburn you have, the more hair your baby will have at birth. Probably isn't true, but it's fun!
I sure dont miss that! haha! Sorry but its worth it (I hated hearing that!)
If it's any consolation, my feet came back down after pregnancy. Bribe Mark to paint your toenails every now and then to help them feel cuter. Jeff does that for me.
Drinking lots of water helps flush the swelling out... although I just got puffier and puffier near the end of my pregnancy. Also, Zantac works wonders for heartburn. (You're probably just getting it because the baby is pushing your organs up and the stomach sphincter muscles relax during pregnancy.) You'll be fine!
No fun! Make sure you're getting enough water, salt and protein!
Feet get bigger during pregnancy because the weight gain collapses your arches which widens and lengthens feet. As long as you are wearing shoes with good arch support, then your feet won't get bigger! You can even buy the Dr. Scholls shoe inserts.
The puffiness is because you may need to drink more WATER! And keep your feet up as much as possible. Even at your desk at work, if you can get a foot rest (or make one, be creative! Use a box of copy paper!) it should help!
Don't forget foot massages get the blood circulating, so that will also help!
P.S. You feet are so cute all puffy!
P.P.S. I did all of the above, and thank goodness my feet didn't change! I have an awesome shoe collection and I would have just cried if I could never wear my shoes again!
