A Perfect Dr. Visit

So, I had an appointment this morning, and even though I didn't get to see the doctor until about an hour past my scheduled time (that office is always really slow!!), it turns out that she thinks everything is wonderful.

When I stepped on the scale, the nurse was pushing the weight over, and over, and over, (exclaimed "Sheesh!") and found that I had gained 7 lbs since the last visit. "Good job!" she said, but at first I wasn't sure if that was sarcastic or not because I felt that was quite a bit for only a few weeks. After the appointment, I asked my doctor (with the nurse present) if my weight gain was alright. I knew that I still have 15 weeks to go, and if I've already gained 15 pounds, I thought that maybe I'd gain too much by the end. (*thinking*- don't you gain more in the end weeks than at the beginning? That only leaves me with another 15-20 lbs left to gain.) The doctor told me, "Well, you look like you're right on track, but let me just check your records to make sure...yeah, you started at 131 and now you're 146. That's 15 lbs, so that's perfect!"

So, with perfect blood-pressure measurements, perfect weight gain, and listening to the wonderfully strong heartbeat of the little guy after/during a discussion of my frustrations with the ultrasound office...the doctor's diagnosis is that everything is perfectly on track with nothing to worry about. She even told me that I didn't have to go back to the ultrasound office if I didn't want to. Maybe I'll get another one by the end of the pregnancy to check one last time, but there would be nothing to really worry about. I also asked her about another personal matter that I wasn't sure it was normal or even pregnancy related, and she said that many pregnant women get the same thing... not abnormal at all and will be perfectly fine.

The next visit I have will be the routine test for gestational diabetes, and once that's through, I will be going in every 2 weeks. It's getting closer!! I love it when life feels perfect!

Thats awesome. I always had a hard time with the weight. I know you are supposed to gain it but there is still something depressing about weighing the most you ever have in you life and that next week will be the same story. But the nice thing is you'll pop out at least 12 of those lbs at birth!

Yuck! The gestational diabetes test is awful! Maybe you'll like the taste of the starchy overly sweetened orange sludge you have to drink! I can still taste it, and it's been almost a year and a half since I had to drink it! Blech... Gag...

I can't wait to read all about it!!!!
