8 Months

On Thursday, Canon will be 8 months old. Wow, time really does fly by! Here are 8 random things about Canon to celebrate this little dude!

  1. Recently, when he's excited about something/someone to play with, his eyes go really wide and he'll stick his fists out in front of him or out to the sides and shake them. It's almost like he's having a seizure... but it's much cuter when you can actually see it!
  2. He has 2 little sharp teeth on the bottom...it's not so fun to let him chew on my fingers anymore.
  3. He loves eating from the spoon! Squash, sweet potatoes, applesauce, pears, carrots, green beans, bananas, mangoes, apricot, peaches, rice, wheat, oatmeal, yogurts... so far I'm hesitant to feed him cheese, but I think that will be the next step...then it's on to finger foods!
  4. He's completely weaned from the breast and breastmilk! I wasn't planning on weaning him so young, but it just kinda happened when I started feeding him solids. He nursed for very brief moments, so basically not nursing much at all during the days, so my milk supply decreased. It just wasn't worth trying to keep it up when he took to the bottle so easily.
  5. His separation anxiety is starting to kick in. If Mark and I are both in the room, and one of us leaves, he'll start to whine and panic... but he's easily consolable once the other person gets his attention.
  6. Canon is such a Daddy's Boy! Every time he sees Mark after a long day of only my attention, he gets super excited. He seems to reserve his biggest smiles for Mark... and I'm ok with that!
  7. He's scooting like crazy all over the living room floor, showing interest in all sorts of things: laptop power cords, shoe laces, pens... in other words, lots of things that are choking and strangulation hazards- those are his favorite, ugh! He's showing interest in balls, shoes, books, keys, picture frames, jewelry (especially around my neck and in my ears!), and anything else he can seem to get his hands on. Such a curious little boy!
  8. I think of him as a great sleeper, but recently he's been much more difficult to put down to bed. He's always fighting sleep and trying to stay up to play with us... even when you can tell he's super tired and rubbing his eyes. I can spend up to an hour trying to get him to fall asleep. I think the heat makes it hard for him. I've resulted to stripping him down to his diaper and aiming the fan directly at his crib. So far, this has worked like a charm.
