Anybody know any good tricks for infant congestion? I want to use something like Vick's Vapor Rub to clear his sinuses. Is there something like that for babies?

The Little Sick-ling
Canon has been sick for the first time this past week. I'm so glad that he went over 4 months before getting ill, and at least it's not really sick. He's been feeling a bit warm (not scary fever-ish), and he's been fairly congested. He's learned that he doesn't really like the nasal aspirator, but we have to use it. Too bad there have been several times where we can't really get anything out, but we can still hear that he's congested. He had a hard time sleeping for a couple nights last week, but he's doing better now! The congestion hinders his nursing a little bit, but he gets over it. He's still pretty happy, and when it's really bad at night the baby Tylenol is a huge help. He calms right down. I'm so glad he's a little trooper!

Yes there is it is around the baby Tylenol here... It is made with more natural ingredients like eucalyptus. I put it on Natalie's back and the stick her in the tub. It clears her right up.

"Vicks Babyrub." It should be with the vicks, or w/ the baby medicine. It is GREAT!! Also the usual go-to's: a humidifier in the room, raising the head to the crib and so on. But my fav is the vicks baby rub. It still has vapors that clear the sinuses, but is gentle enough for babies.

Turn on the hot water in your shower and close the door of your bathroom, then just take him in there and hold him. The steam will really help his congestion.
You can do that several times a day for as long as he's sick.
I hope he feels better soon!
You may want to check his gums to see if he's teething. Is he also drooling a lot? Congestion, trouble nursing, and low-grade fever are all symptoms of teething... but I can never distinguish between that and a cold when Syd was getting teeth. She'd just all of a sudden have a new tooth. It's worth checking his gums, though the treatment is still the same.
